I don’t think people understand that in Black Butler, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Attack on Titan, for fancasts choices: they can be white, I mean in FMA, the brothers are obviously German, and in AOT, Eren is German, and Erwin is American-looking. Thank you that’s my ted talk

That’s true. I guess people think just because the writer is Japanese he HAS to make his characters Japanese instead of being allowed to have imagination and combine nationalities and do something different

Yep! Plus in some series, the race of the character is ambiguous/could be mixed due to certain physical features.

And it’s not terrible to say that a lot of manga authors are inspired by western looks because some of even said it in interviews. And true, it’s creative to have a German character for example instead of sticking to just Japanese characters
