in case you havent heard, bbc2 released a documentary today about trans kids.

it sucked. real fucking bad. 30 seconds in they compared trans children to dogs. they stole videos from happy transitioned youtuber stef sanjati without her consent or prior knowledge. they got a “””doctor””” who had been fired recently to talk about trans kids.

boycott bbc2. fuck them.

it is worth noting, the former doctor in question, Zucker, was the one who was using abusive conversion therapy on trans youth to get them to not transition, and claimed that his results (which were him traumatizing kids into submission) proved that gender questioning youth were all just in a phase. He is the worst kind of scum

as a former patient of zucker, I can confirm the allegations of “reparative therapy” aka conversion therapy. because he was head of the only clinic (at the time) that covered HRT by the government in southern ontario (aka 40% of canada’s population), he was the only one you could go to. 

his m.o was usually to do a cognition test (if you passed that, you moved on), “counselling” (aka finding a reason for your transness: in my case, he said childhood abuse caused it IN FRONT OF MY MOTHER who was also a victim of said abuse) and then push conversion therapy. since I was over 18, he couldn’t do shit but when I said I wouldn’t do it, I was dropped as a patient. no follow up for hormones or surgeries. 

if you were unlucky enough to be under 18, he could get your parents to sign a waver to push conversion therapy completely without your consent. 

his new rhetoric is that being trans is linked to autism, that it’s much like a “toddler’s obsession” and “A four-year-old might say that he’s a dog — do you go out and buy dog food?”
